JOB DESCRIPTION
Reports To: General Manager
POSITION PURPOSE
Support the General Manager to lead the strategic direction of the business ensuring compliance in all financial related matters. Act as the financial liaison to the Pacific corporate office and head office as required.
Oversee and support the Financial Controller and finance team in the achievement of the Division’s goals and the maintenance of adequate internal controls over all areas of hotel operations, ensuring timely completion of all reports generated by accounting team. Enforce the maintenance of Ala Moana policies and procedures as they apply to the hotel operation.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
15% Assist the General Manager to set the strategic direction for the hotel to achieve its financial objectives. Review processes, implement controls and maximize returns.
20% Oversee and support of the Financial Controller and finance team in day to day finance operations, preparing all month-end and year-end reports, including tax reporting packages. Maintain the books of accounts for owners and the Company.
15% Prepare and coordinate monthly forecasts and outlooks, including, but not limited to, quarterly reforecasts for owners and any similar reports for the Company.
5% Prepare budget annually for the hotel.
15% Review financial reports in accordance with reporting calendars and ensure that all reports are submitted on a timely basis.
10% Provide guidance and supervision to all accounting employees as required. Recommend training necessary or provide training for specific tasks to accounting team.
10% Oversee general ledger journals, maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations and perform other general and administrative functions as may be required.
5% Assist Financial Controller to prepare audit schedules and coordinate with external and internal auditors in the completion of their field work. Put plans in place at completion for implementation of all audit recommendations.
5% Oversee the administration of all bank accounts, ensures bank resolutions are updated, and prepare treasury reports.
OTHER
§ Regular attendance in conformance with the standards which have been established by the hotel from time to time is essential to the successful performance of this position.
§ Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to workvarying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
§ Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with the hotel rules and regulations for the safe efficient operation of the hotel facilities.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities:
§ Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
§ Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
§ Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
§ Must possess intermediate computer skills.
§ Knowledge of computer accounting programs, math skills as well as budgetary analysis capabilities required.
§ Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups to managers, clients, customers, and ownership.
§ Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
§ Computer skills: high level proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and other applicable computer systems required.
§ Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
QUALIFICATIONS & STANDARDS
§ 4-year bachelor's degree in Finance and Accounting or related major; 5 year experience in a senior management position in the finance and accounting or related professional area. Experience in hotel or condominiums an advantage.
